Criminal Traffic Violations

Virginia has numerous traffic offenses which are designated to be misdemeanors or felonies.  They include:

  • Driving under the Influence of Alcohol (DWI)
  • Driving on Suspended or Revoked
  • Reckless or Aggressive Driving
    • General Reckless
    • Reckless speeding (driving more than 20 mph over the speed limit)
    • Driving with faulty brakes
    • Passing on a hill or a curve
    • Passing a stopped school bus, while its lights are flashing
    • Racing
  • Leaving the scene of an accident without making your identity known (hit and run)
  • Vehicular wounding or manslaughter
  • Driving after being declared to be an habitual offender
  • Driving without a valid license
  • Allowing an unlicensed, suspended or revoked driver to drive
  • Failing to stop for the signal of a police officer
  • Fraudulent use of a driver’s license or DMV identification card to obtain alcohol
  • Fraud or false statements in applications for licenses

If you are charged with any of these offenses, you should be represented by an attorney. If convicted, you could go to jail, and you could also lose your driving privileges. The Magee Law Firm has lawyers who are experienced in representing people charged with all of these offenses, and will work hard to protect your legal rights.
